Of sunny minds and a promising "Bichl"

The search for a plot of land had led Mr. Jäger Senior to Tirolo on a sun-drenched hill, called "Bichl" in South Tyrolean dialect. As he let his gaze wander over the spa town of Merano, the Burggrafenamt and the surrounding mountains, the idea that was to become a vision was suddenly there: This patch of earth was perfect for a small guesthouse surrounded by greenery.

And so the foundational stone for the "Sonnbichl" was laid. Initially, the guesthouse was mainly run by Mrs. Jäger, as Mr. Jäger was still working as an accountant in Merano at the time. Over the years, however, the Sonnbichl has continued to develop: Expansion and remodelling work followed, a pool was added and the small guesthouse eventually became a smart, family-run hotel, which at some point also demanded all their efforts – from both Jägers combined.

In 1993, the family business was converted into a 4-star superior hotel and taken over by son Hannes Jäger in 1999. The modern and elegant Sonnbichl is run with great pleasure and passion: Today, as then, quality and hospitality are the top priorities. Hannes Jäger also likes to look after his guests personally. And not just in the hotel, but also on guided hikes in the countryside, sometimes even accompanied by his dog Ambra. Mr. and Mrs. Jäger Senior are present at the hotel from time to time and look forward to a chat with beloved regular guests they have known for decades. And the youngest generation, Jonathan, is also very interested in getting a taste of hotel life!
